FAQ
Is the training really free?
Yes! We strongly believe that financial barriers of all things should not be a barrier, esp when we're trying to break barriers! Just make sure you thank your trainers, they spend a lot of their personal time prepping their course and take days off to teach it.
I really like the sound of a course but I'm not confident with the prerequites....
No big! Reach out and we'll put you in touch with the trainers to see if there are any reading materials or exercises you can do to get you up to speed.
I'm under 18, can I attend?
Of course! We've had several attendees and a travel grant recipient that were under 18. Please do let us know however so we can make sure you have a safe and fun experience, and that we're meeting our responsibilities. We're also happy to be in contact with your parents if they have any concerns.
Travel is expensive...
It really is! We can't guarentee you a grant but we can promise to do our best to raise as much funding as we can to help those that would not otherwise be able to attend. If you submit an application, you do not need to get a ticket, we will allocate you a ticket if we are able to provide a grant. Edit: Applications closed on the 11th of April, but we run one every year so let those that might need it know for next time.
I'm a bit worried about accessibility...
Let's chat! In the past we've offered nursing rooms, prayer rooms, accomedations for all dietary requirements and more, when requested. We do our best to make things easy so you can give your full attention to the training, just give us a heads up.
How can I help?
We could always use sponsorship! A free conference with a travel grant program for students and those starting out is not the cheapest to run. If your work, or a company you know might interested in supporting us, we would be most grateful for an introduction!
Why women only?
Women make up so little of the industry so we hope this would provide an approachable space to learn, inspire and collaborate.
Tackling the gender imbalance is complicated but we believe making good and relevant training accessible as well as oppurtunities to meet like minded people in the same situation is a way we can contribute.
We welcome all woman and women-aligned nonbinary people.
Can I do multiple courses?
We feel the same way as well but unfortunately all courses are two-days and run concurrently so please choose one.
Why 0xCC?
0xCC is hex for a breakpoint, I found it extremely useful when I was learning how to create buffer overflows and it represents what we want the conference to be. It's technical, neutral, you didn't know it existed but hopefully it has been super helpful ever since.
